People are under the illusion that a capitalist society is a democracy. I don’t see how educated people could believe this. The only way that a democracy can exists is when everyone is a true equal.
Aside from the fact that I don’t believe that this will ever happen (and I’m not so sure that I would ever want it to happen), the closest that a society can come to being a democracy is a communist society (note that I am not saying USSR/Stalin/Politburo communism, rather communism as Marx/Engels depict it).
The current political structure in the United States today more resembles Plato’s Republic, with the top 1% taking the place of “Philosopher Kings” (Guardians), and the state bureaucracy (the governmental body) taking the place of the “soldiers” (Auxiliary).
